And found that they actually amplify signals in the range 1.2GHz to 1.4GHz (which are bands allocated in the US to the Govt. for radio comms and satellites) and the 2.6GHz used by mobiles. http://berkeley.intel-research.net/arahimi/helmet/ They conclude "It requires no stretch of the imagination to conclude that the current helmet craze is likely to have been propagated by the Government, possibly with the involvement of the FCC."
