Ordained online is quite important.... at least in my state. I simply signed on to a website with some minimal personal data and was ordained. And that gave me legal status in my state. A state that, according to its constitution, does not allow an atheist to hold public office (that's over-ridden by the national constitution, but you get what Im saying). In a couple of months, if they still desire, I'll be officiating at my friends' wedding.... twice.
But seriously, I had to find an "approved" church, the Universal LIfe Church, as accepted by my state. I found them through The Church of the Subgenius (Praise BoB).
