|Why blind pig? ..........Because the establishment owner (pre prohibition) to circumnavigate rules forbidding the sale of booze, would charge his punters to see a 'freak of nature' such as a blind pig, and would give a 'complimetary' alcoholic beverage to every viewee |
The name stuck, and was also used during prohibition to describe a low class beer joint, as opposed to a better class 'Speakeasy'
Now long pig.......that's a whole different kettle of innards.
