  | | Depends on volume of drink and what I've been doing. For example I remember most of the h2g2 Manchester meet, but getting home is a bit fuzzy. I think that's because at a certain point I concentrate on not falling over/saying something stupid instead of paying attention to what's happening around me.
However, I remember very little of the Leeds United Relegation Party my friends threw me in 2004. Apparently by ten pm I'd necked three neat mugs of vodka, put a box on my head and gone to sleep. I don't remember that.
I also don't remember eating a whole packet of pink wafers and spending an hour regurgitating them while cursing Terry Venables' name.

  | | I've never experienced a blackout from drinking, but knowing somebody who did recently, and was worried about it, I looked up some information, and found that it is related to how quickly you are consuming the alcohol, and the effect this has on your brain to process memory.
Blackouts can occur even when those around you don't realise you are quite drunk, so can get you into all sorts of trouble...
(I feel like you mother now)

  | | I have no personal memory of this, but apparently I was ejected from a "Disco" (It was the 70's) for sliding down a wall and sleeping peacefully. Friends then took me off to hospital fearing I was out of action due to alcohol poisoning. Whilst lying on a stretcher with eyse closed, I apparently (quite clearly)started reciting my name and address......and also all the pills I was on for Artheritis. I (apparently) would not shut up either, and I was told (well afterwards) that I went on for about half an hour............
My mates sister (who I was dating and was with us on the night)started blaming herself for my condition and alledgedly attempted suicide by knocking back all her contraception pills.......
Honest, I kid you not.
Another incident was around a local bar that (for some reason, I have no idea what, again in the 70's)decided to do a "Buy one beer. get one free" offer. Place was swamped of course, and I rememeber having four pints lined up in front of me when I left. Outside was like a scene from "Night Of The Living Dead" with stone drunk bodies lurching from side to side, some sprawled on the floor, some over bonnets of cars, some being sick all over the place, etc. It seemed churlish not to join in, so I promptly passed out and crashed to the floor.
About 10 hours sleep later, I woke up in my bed to experience an awful ot of pain from my toes.......pulled back the cover to find my shoes still on (My best brand new "Slade" stylee platforms) and finding covers stained with blood and my toes clearly visible through the large holes at the front of my shoes. It was later told to me that two mates had rescued me, and beteen them they had dragged me home with my lifeless arms round their necks, shoes dragging along the pavement. It was about a mile they had dragged me and when the shoes wore through, the toes took over..............I didnt walk properly for a week.....

  | | I wish I forgot I always wake up with a terrible punishing state of guilt...I said what...
This is worse now I have a child as my long-suffering tea-total husband invariably gets up with him.
Sambuca is evil, on our Christmas do my colleague visably went from upright and sober to a swaying sleazy drunk in one shot. He was so mortified we didn't have the heart to tease him afterwards.
My brother (another brother I have 5) introduced me to Jager bombs by holding my head and pouring them into my mouth. A drink that gets you hideously drunk but kreps you awake must be wrong.
