I'm fairly sure I remember nearly everything but I spoke to my brother yesterday and we had what seemed a fairly sane conversation which he had no memory of today.

I suffer from 'pub deafness'. In a noisy environment I can only pretend to understand what people are saying to me. Maybe your brother suffers from it too.

It's not that he can't remember what we said, he doesn't remember that we spoke!

Depends how much, of what strength, one has drunk. For which reason I can't remember anything from approx 1992 until 2001... erm drunk Really not remembering stuff at all is a fairly good sign that the person concerned has either drunk one heck of a lot, or there's maybe something else contributing to their inability to remember... weird

I've had a couple of nights in my life when I drank far too much and as a result don't remember, but in general I remember drunken nights just as well as any other night.

I know someone who broke their leg while drunk, and didn't remember it the next day.

Depends on volume of drink and what I've been doing. For example I remember most of the h2g2 Manchester meet, but getting home is a bit fuzzy. I think that's because at a certain point I concentrate on not falling over/saying something stupid instead of paying attention to what's happening around me.

However, I remember very little of the Leeds United Relegation Party my friends threw me in 2004. Apparently by ten pm I'd necked three neat mugs of vodka, put a box on my head and gone to sleep. I don't remember that.

I also don't remember eating a whole packet of pink wafers and spending an hour regurgitating them while cursing Terry Venables' name.

I've never experienced a blackout from drinking, but knowing somebody who did recently, and was worried about it, I looked up some information, and found that it is related to how quickly you are consuming the alcohol, and the effect this has on your brain to process memory.

Blackouts can occur even when those around you don't realise you are quite drunk, so can get you into all sorts of trouble...

Its strange how It can alter at differnt times... I've had some evenigns out when not necessarily drinking a vast amount, or wildly quickly and end up with a bit of a 'err how did I get home'... type memory failured, yet non--stop 48 hour plus drinking, mixing spirits wine and beer, including several litre bottles of full strength vodka and whisky, and despite taking various substances that one shouldn't take especially on alcohol, remember it all too painfully clearly doh blush whistle erm and... why is it that whenever you do something really*imbarasing whilst drunk, you remember it blush angel well... not like I've ever done that oviouvsly... really... well.. erm angel stiffdrink ale at least the summer beer festavils should be getting closer to us now zen drunk

I have no personal memory of this, but apparently I was ejected from a "Disco" (It was the 70's) for sliding down a wall and sleeping peacefully. Friends then took me off to hospital fearing I was out of action due to alcohol poisoning. Whilst lying on a stretcher with eyse closed, I apparently (quite clearly)started reciting my name and address......and also all the pills I was on for Artheritis.
I (apparently) would not shut up either, and I was told (well afterwards) that I went on for about half an hour............

My mates sister (who I was dating and was with us on the night)started blaming herself for my condition and alledgedly attempted suicide by knocking back all her contraception pills.......

Honest, I kid you not.

Another incident was around a local bar that (for some reason, I have no idea what, again in the 70's)decided to do a "Buy one beer. get one free" offer. Place was swamped of course, and I rememeber having four pints lined up in front of me when I left. Outside was like a scene from "Night Of The Living Dead" with stone drunk bodies lurching from side to side, some sprawled on the floor, some over bonnets of cars, some being sick all over the place, etc. It seemed churlish not to join in, so I promptly passed out and crashed to the floor.

About 10 hours sleep later, I woke up in my bed to experience an awful ot of pain from my toes.......pulled back the cover to find my shoes still on (My best brand new "Slade" stylee platforms) and finding covers stained with blood and my toes clearly visible through the large holes at the front of my shoes.
It was later told to me that two mates had rescued me, and beteen them they had dragged me home with my lifeless arms round their necks, shoes dragging along the pavement. It was about a mile they had dragged me and when the shoes wore through, the toes took over..............I didnt walk properly for a week.....wah

I've discovered that I have a terrible allergy to leather. Whenever I wake up with my shoes on I find I have a terrible headache.

On saturday night, over the course of several hours, accompanied by a meal, I had two thirds of a bottle of wine and two shots of sambucca (which I didn't really want. Peer pressure, at my age!). I didn't think I had any holes in my memoy but next day husband mentiond something about the toast we'd had after walking home which I don't remember *at all*.

I don't think that is a hugely worrying amount of alcohol to consume in one evening (although obviously more than was sensible!) but I don't drink much any more so when I do it affects me strongly.

In my partying days I used to be the kind of drunken person that appeared semi-normal whilst being so drunk I couldn't remember anything the next day. Was never sure whether to be grateful to be spared the embarrassing memories...

I wish I forgot I always wake up with a terrible punishing state of guilt...I said what...

This is worse now I have a child as my long-suffering tea-total husband invariably gets up with him.

Sambuca is evil, on our Christmas do my colleague visably went from upright and sober to a swaying sleazy drunk in one shot. He was so mortified we didn't have the heart to tease him afterwards.

My brother (another brother I have 5) introduced me to Jager bombs by holding my head and pouring them into my mouth. A drink that gets you hideously drunk but kreps you awake must be wrong.

Sambuca and Baileys - a Slippery Nipple.

I have them every once in a while at a friends house, usually after consuming a bottle of wine. I'm fine, until I get to the car (hubby's the driver) I change the CD and talk about all sorts of theings. We get home, I make toast, we watch a programme and then go to bed.

I wake up the next morning, not remembering *anything* from the start of the journey back. Thankfully I don't do anything to shameful, just very helpful.

I have to watch the programme again, mind winkeye

Never do flaming sambucas while already intoxicated (as if there was any time!) If you spill it, it sticks to your hands and arms like napalm.

Sambuca and baileys? The sugar rush alone....

Reminds me of a memorable night at university when I met the lead singer of the La's in a bar and told him in great detail how fantastic I thought he was...after drinking schnaps and vodka.

I believe I deconstructed each and everyone of his songs. He assumed I was a big groupie...

Oh if I only I forgot!
