When I first came here the Dawkins thread was just started. I found it interesting to read and write on it. It helped my English ( I´m Spanish) At a certain moment I thought that some people needed each other not to convince but to show how able were they to present brilliant crafted arguments.
I must recognize that I´ve learnt a lot of interesting things there, but lately in the "What is about God/religion that you object to?" thread I found rethorical arguments again. I mean, some people love the fact of elaborating solid and tenable arguments againts theists, some don´t seek to offend, just have fun with their pet-theists.
I was expecting with the last mentioned thread to read and write something different from the tired ground of God existence. I consider religion a fenomenon so interesting and relevant that it´s a pity to waste brain in useless discussions. Those threads could be named in some occasions Scolastic, in relation with that medieval tradition of rethorical questions and discussions about silly irrelevant seudo-philosophical topics.
However, I´ll lurke again just in case new topics appear. Laicism , for instance.

 ...like "what is the sound of one hand clapping?"?
 i find those quite easy to answer... for instance there is no sound of one hand clapping because one hand cannot clap ...unless it is clapping against something other than another hand... such as a thigh or a railing... but the question makes it sound like there is nothing else involved in the "clapping."
 perhaps there might be, however, the muted sounds of someone sobbing or groaning over the question
