Friday, October 28th, was a "Military Appreciation Day" at our Wing of the Air Force Association of Canada. Our 'home' is now less than a km from the north gates of 8 Wing/CFB Trenton. They employ maybe 2,000 uniforms now, and a Friday afternoon... Not only because of necessity of reception of a man on the tarmac (this base knows too damned many), a local SAR Tech coming in from a relatively common mission ... But in that life, shite happens and it sometimes takes a dire occurrence to strike home again. We had maybe 115 attend our drink-and-lunch affair, and most were very subdued. Just saying ...
