  | | A short while ago, science author Simon Singh was sued for stating that chiropractors have no evidence that their treatment are effective for asthma, ear infections and other childhood conditions. This is the first case of its kind, and more will surely follow if it is successfully prosecuted.
This may not seem a big deal, but scientific scrutiny of treatments and critical discussion of medical practice are vital to ensure the safety of patients and prevent companies from making false claims as to the effectiveness of their products. Open debate and the careful review of evidence would be stifled by the sheer cost of defending a libel claim and the way that libel law is weighted against writers.
A campaign is now underway to keep the libel laws out of scientific disputes - please support it at http://www.senseaboutscience.org.uk/index.php/site/project/334/

  | | Thanks Alex for your note coming on my page. I will go into more deeper in my claim to find what I left at h2g2 while around a couple of years!
I noticed your page Alex. Congrat to become a very great doc.
eventually. You certainly have a lot of energy, broad interest in every direction. How is your "bedside manner"? Here in America ( New York region) there is lot to be improved about it! Generally doctors are not very much liked here. From both side: doctor/patient relations are really not as nice as it could be. If you interested can send more info. I am an artist, but did some volunteer work in hospitals as a visitor. Now I am doing a Web Magazine: http://www.vaumau.com Original h2g2 name: Blue Bird/ now Waumau till I get my claim "justified"

  | | Well than Alex: let's be friends. That is always interesting when somebody "new" pops into your life. The Internet is a most exciting place with total mistery, promises and also frustrations etc. Now I am involved to find the page I used to be when I was Blue Bird. I'd like to write an introduction = update. When I find it, you will see. Waumau/Blue Bird P.S. Thanks for the reply!

  | | You see Alex that is what it is: the answer: THE NUMBER! I believe in numbers ( even though is only a human creation) but in many cases numbers work. Yes my number is U211101 and it works. Silly passwords are simply silly in my opinion. I am not a programmer but there are good stuff not discovered yet! So then you tell'em! ( That is the way they say it in America) Thank you a million times ( make it a billion Blue bird on the Road of recovery! Thanks to All for this mutual effort.
