Wake me up before you go go... Subject: Contracts? Posted Jul 18, 2012 by lil ~ ACE/Scout/CE/Guru ~ Auntie Giggles ~ wearing her Summer 'at!   Posting 1 What an exciting day this has been. We received four offers for the house, two very low, and the other two very reasonable. We accepted the offer made by the young couple who are trying to get onto the property ladder. Then, about an hour later, we were notified that the young lady who had made the lowest offer had come back with an increase of £9k, putting her £2k over the young couple's offer! I don't believe in gazzumping, so I said I would have to talk with Hubby. Thankfully he agreed with me, she should have made a reasonable offer in the first place, and we would stick with the young couple's offer. Well, if the contracts are fully agreeable we should be moving at the end of August/beginning of September! Then I will have more bloody painting to do! I have bought and sold 4 houses in my lifetime, and I think the Scottish law makes the whole thing simpler Smudger. Subject: Contracts? It sounds like the other person was taking the michael to me, and didn't deserve to get it. This is a reply to this Posting   Posting 18 The house is very sound, but does need some decorative work, a new kitchen and bathroom We deliberately put the value on the house to reflect what is needed. We had plans for an endowment that has just matured which would have paid for all the work needed. The opportunity to purchase the bungalow was just too good to miss.
