Tues, October 14th,
Well, it'd been 4 weeks since my last journal entry, and there was the SSO issue to sort out, so here i am.
What's big in the actualities en France right now?
Les Bleus qualify directly for Euro 2004 after winning 3-0 against Israel on Saturday night In fact, they won *all eight* qualifying matches! 29 goals and only 2 conceded; not a bad record. It might be said that their group was pretty weak, but tout de meme! <chapeau>
The rugby world cup, of course, but that hasn't really got going yet. I don't think the French are serious contenders, but you never know...
The Corsican nationalist paramilitary organisation 'FLNC-Union des Combattants' claimed responsability for two bomb attacks over the weekend. One person was injured in Nice on Friday Oct 10th, and in another attack in Paris the following morning no-one was hurt.
Former Minister of the Interior (Home Minister) Charles Pasqua is under investigation for 'irregularities' in the financing of his right-wing political party, the RPF.
And finally... well, I'd say the biggest news is that after the chaos in May, we *haven't* seen a new wave of strike action! Very strange. I had been sure we would, but it's all quiet on the Raffarin front, for the time being. It can't last.
a plus, The French Connection
