  | | We're usually pretty quick when it comes to negative criticism, although we all know that it is constructive and positive criticism which motivates.
I couldn't really find a good place to post this on the Create page, so I'll do it here instead.
I think it is great! I do not know Blue peter (ie I've never watched it), but I don't feel for a minute being treated like a child by the way and tone Create is being presented.
It is novel, it is imaginative, and if a prize is offered (something that completely escaped me), fine. The eds offered T-shirts for their Challenges. I know it, because I got one.
I cannot for the life of me see the difference, and why this would be seen as a change in culture. And anyway, it is entirely possible that culture could be changed for better.
The fact that I haven't taken part in only one of the challenges so far is the small print. I could write a journal about my Christmas, but I couldn't write four of them, and I've never spent a Christmas that wasn't traditional. I'd love to, but I've never been out of the country during Christmas, and I've never been on my own, so had no choice than spend Christmas the traditional way. If you have, have a look here:

Well I liked NaJoPoMo but did find it difficult to keep track of other conversations - but that could have been because I was busy.
I even entered the story competition - and have since re-read the instructions and find that my story it totally the wrong thing because it isn't related to the winter solstice. Anyway, it might encourage someone to write about the right thing.
I also submitted a pome to the AWW - that one I knew didn't fit the brief but you know what I'm like.
So, all things considered I'm coming down firmly in favour of the Create initiative. It pushes us all in the right direction and encourages activity and inclusion.

  | | I have to say I'm getting seriously fed up being told one can't either understand or do "ART" unless one has an art degree or is an artist. I wouldn't mind but the person concerned seems to think its fine to criticise everyone else, and in a nasty, vindictive way at times, only then not able to take any criticism back without screaming and crying about victimisation and a "woe is me, no-one understands the Artist" cr*p. Create is a brilliant idea, it expands on what used to be the Editors challenge. I've taken part in 2 of them so far, may do more as and when. As for degrees, well, I got 18 of 'em here, at least thats what me room thermometer says anyway.
