I've thought of something for my story, but I was worried because Solnushka seemed to set such store by them not being true. I'm afraid mine will be true, except that it hasn't happened yet - so give me a couple of days.

And I enjoyed yours, Bel - I reckon with a probability of about 99% that it's true, too.

Thanks all. I'm happy you enjoyed it, true or not.

And TC, you're not supposed to say whether your story is true or not true - not yet, anyway. winkeye

That's a great story. *narrows eyes* It is very you. Hmmm.

Actually, I'm with your mum. Travelling freaks me out.

Is that a double bluff, TC? yikes

I usually experience the weirdest things when travelling. Maybe not so nice right then, but a big laugh later. biggrin

Hmmm, true or not true? Interesting tale, whichever way...

But I suspect you're spoofing, Bel. biggrin

Okay, here's a question. Please excuse me if this seems a mean thing to ask but- how were you recieved as Germans in Paris?

I've been to France a few times now. People have always been very nice and helpful. You don't need to be fluent in French, the moment they see that you try they go out of their way to help you. smiley

TRiG, you've got nearly a week left for this particular challenge (can't wait to read yours, benjamin).

Writing it now Bel. It will be up shortly. I've never been aware of egeneral antipathy, but I when I working in a school a few years ago a German colleague of mine was invited to be part of the school tri to Allsace. She declined, fearing her presence would not be well recieved. She may have been wrong, of course.

The Alsace may indeed be special in this regard, but they live so close to the border, I can't imagine they're hostile. There must be a lot of traffic across borders, probably families living here and there...

I live a stone's throw from Alsace. The Germans are very welcome there, as they spend a lot of money over the border. I can't believe that anyone (German) would have qualms about going there. It's the only place in France where German is spoken and all along the border there are partnerships and exchanges.

Unfortunately, very little effort is made on the part of the Germans to speak French, but this doesn't seem to bother the French that much, so long as they (les kr*a*u*ts) come and buy wine and cheese, and visit the castles, and have slap-up meals in the restaurants. Germans who can think that far are sometimes ashamed that they don't speak French.

PS - I have a feeling that the German word for cabbage trips the filter, so I've tried to describe it. It's French!
