Hi mari-rae,

Just thought I'd do the neighbourly thing and drop by to have a look at your user space. I see that you're living in the UK now, where abouts - will we expect to see you at some of the meet ups?

I see that you're into ancient monuments and the likes, I was wondering if you've been to Avebury yet? It's a stone circle that is so large that there's a village built within it. If you're interested - there are several web sites that can give you information as to where it is and even a few pics. I used to live 10 - 12 miles away, in Wootten Basset, a lovely little town.

Oh before I forget.... The Red Lion (the pub in the Avebury) does a very nice Sunday Lunch.

Maybe I'll bump into you some time!! Looking forward to that biggrin

Yes! I loved Avebury! Have also been to Maiden's Castle, Eggardon Hill, Stonehenge, Wells Cathedral, the Giant at Cerne Abbas (which I am not convinced isn't victorian graffiti...), the White Horse at Westbury. We also discovered a small standing stone circle near Winterbourne Abbas ... nine stones in a tiny glade.

When we first arrived we stayed in Frome, Somerset and then near Bridport, Dorset. We did a lot of sightseeing. Aside from the ones I mentioned, we also visited many churches in all the little towns. Now we are up in Wiltshire.

I am not comfortable naming the place in this venue, but our town is close to that one and has a big Abbey. winkeye

I think I went there once. Got some great pictures in the Abbey - low light - hand held camera - slow shutter speed - crystal clear prints - saturated colours - excellent.

(What a nerd!!)

I was really into photography at the time - as you can no doubt guess.

I really miss Wiltshire. There were so many interesting walks to take the dog and just chill out. I remember one of the big celebrations in London, I think it must have been 50 years after WWII, there were loads of planes flying over the capital, but they all massed in the skies near Marlborough. I was on top of the downs watching it all and had a fantastic view.

Then there's the crop circles!!

I used to be a bit of a P***artist laugh

I don't do photography much these days. I never used to go anywhere without my camera - except w**k. I even took some pics cycling into w**k one morning, I'd got one of those disposeable panoramic cameras and decided to give it a whirl. Quite often it would be a bit misty as the sun came up - most photogenic, got some reasonable results. I don't have the prints any more though, my ex seems to be keeping them grr

I really wish people would stop saying things like that to me, I feel like I've been raped and pillaged and it still hurts.

There's a lot more to this than I am prepared to post on site, if you feel you need to know the details I'll tell you via e-mail.

I play bass guitar in a band called Strangers, based in the Midlands. Our current line-up has been together for 4 and a bit years now, but the band has been going with various different members for maybe as many as 10 years.

We do Rock covers - Meatloaf, The Stranglers, Bon Jovi, Blue Oyster Cult, Muse, Van Halen and many others. If there's any chance you'd like to get along to one of our gigs, our web site is at the following address....

www.strangers.org.uk

There's a gig list in there somewhere, plus a load of pics from some of the shows.
