I've just finished my new personal space! I think it's more interesting than the last one, because it has more information about me, my interests and my country.

I've gone for the "sparse but pretty" look, with only a couple of pictures. It's best viewed in Brunel, but I think it looks good in Goo too.

Let me know what you think! biggrin

I think, it's more interesting, too. smiley

And what you write about being interested in the differeces in grammar of different languages - me, too. It's like now that I learn Russian I always think "Oh, okay, so this is like it is in Lakota" or "So this works like in Mongolian"...

Exactly, I think it's really fascinating studying the syntax of different languages.

Last semester we concentrated on text analysis at uni for german texts and it was so interesting to study the lexis and syntax of different texts and commenting on them. I'm sure you must have done text analysis at your uni so you'll know what I meansmiley

I once went to a russian class and realised that a lot of their letters in the alphabet were similar to the Greek letters. It was weird

If I remember correctly than the Cyrillic alphabet is based on the Greek alphabet.

Yeah it is based on the Greek alphabet as a lot of the words were borrowed from the Greek language.

Apparently the cyrillic alphabet was created by two brothers from Northern Greece who spoke slavish.

Coo, didn't know that!

Of course, the Latin alphabet (which is now used for most Western languages including English and German) was also derived from the Greek alphabet, as was the word "alphabet" itself (the first two letters of the Greek alphabet are - anglicised - alpha and beta).

Well, somewhere in the back of my mind I knew about those two brothers since I read a bit about the Cyrillic alphabet for my paper on the Mongolian scripts.

But that "alphabet" is actually just alpha and beta - you never stop learning! smiley
