That the Falklands War started in ernest and today I went to a commemoration service in Fareham (A new memorial was unveiled) This was a legitimate war as British Terretory had been occupied (unlike the current one) and where was the Prime Minister and the Prime Minister Elect? same place they were on the 20th anniversary, Nowhere to be seen, now if Lady Thatcher can make it, in her current state of health, I'm sure some of the current government could have dragged their asses down for a couple of hours to pay their respects to those who sacrificed so much for freedom. Shame on you Mr Blair and Mr Brown, I'll bet they'll be first in the queue to commemorate the Iraq war, if it ever ends.

Here's a few pictures, sorry about the quality but I used my phone to take them

Oh yeah, she was an Old Bag alright, anyone remember the playground rhyme 'Mrs Thatcher the Milk Snatcher' but she took the time to remember, unlike the others, not even Prince Andrew could be bothered. He was asked to be President of the Falklands Vets Foundation, he couldn't be a$$ed grr so they've asked Prince Charles instead, I ask you is it only those of a certain age that can be bothered?

On a military career course at the time, we watched what the TV could bring us. Knowing that they weren't our mates, but allies. It's hard to believe that it was that long ago.

i was 18 and knew some of the guys who went down there. All of them came back, thank goodness.

We weren't allowed to talk about it at school because some of the wee ones' dads were down there.

When I started work in our local barracks, I was nearly 21 and there were still a few guys around who were wearing the South Atlantic Medal

For that cheeky remark I've added you to my friends list Herr Stafford - so BEWARE! In fact we may be quasi-related, my distant ancestors the POCKETs may well have been poachers, if not smugglers too.

I'll never be 40. I'll just keep being 29. It's worked 18 or 19 times for me so far. whistle
