Dame Commander??

Truly an excellent piece. Well done.

Perhaps his fans should have chosen between Auntie Dame Clive and Dame Auntie Clive after his award ... or am I missing something?

There was a computer game joke about him collecting a Dame Commander. He must be CBE or KCBE or something.

Nope, I'm positive he's a DCBE, *not* a KCBE or a CBE, because I remember very clearly thinking "but he's a bloke!" when I read about it in 1983. The funny thing is, I've done some internet searches this evening, and I can't find *any* reference to the specific award he got, so I can't back this up. Weird.

OK, check this blast from the past out...

Reviews of Finders Keepers (brilliant, and only £1.99!), Dragontorc, Spyhunter and.... A Day in the Life, the game alluded to above. Let nobody say I don't do my research.

Nah. He must be a Knight Commander. I've checked a few websites and almost nowhere mentions whether a man can be created Dame Commander: probably because it is so self-evident that they can't! However, you could check here:

And here:

Also, the initials are KBE and DBE, whereas I think we were both under the impression they were KCBE and DCBE.
