10 March, Tibetan Uprising Day

Post 1

John the gardener says, "Free Tibet!"

10 March is observed as Tibetan Uprising Day by Tibetans and their supporters around the world. On this day in 1959, Chinese troops massacred tens of thousands of people who had gathered in Tibet's capital, Lhasa, to block a suspected attempt to kidnap the Dalai Lama and protest the increasingly repressive Chinese occupation of their country. No one knows exactly how many Tibetans were killed, but the death toll is estimated to be in excess of 80,000.
