About Me

Observations of the Maize Owl

The Maize owl is a small yellow headed creature, seen mostly at night. The Maize Owl prefers relative quiet, but is not a solitary creature, prefering small family type groups, to large flocks. The Maize Owl is known to have an intense maternal instinct, and will tend to mother any creature percieved to be a fledgling that comes close enough to the nest. This often leads to strange antics as the Maize Owl attempts to feed everything from fox kits to bear cubs regardless of size differential. Unlike most owls the Maize Owl does not posses superior vision, being nearly blind, but uses the same sonar techniques that a bat would use for navigation The visual fragility of the Maize Owl tends to belie its true nature as a carinvore and an opportunistic feeder. This has been your offical warning, The Maize Owl is watching you!
