So who is Mrs Zen and why does she sign off 'Ben'?

In the late 1990s I stumbled across a beautiful website called Starship Titanic and signed up for emails. I would get strange missives from them that hinted at disorganised fun in a parallel universe. I was changing jobs and moving to Glasgow so when I got one saying the folks at The Digital Village were creating a new website I deleted it. That, my chickadees, is why I never had one of those sexy 5-figure user numbers.

A year later in 2000 I was working in Germany and using the Babelfish translator to turn my colleagues emails from unintelligible German into unintelligible English. Next to the Babelfish on the Alta Vista search engine was an ad for a website. So I did join in the halcyon days before the BBC and got badges and everything.

And then this spring the BBC announced they were going to dispose of the site and Z founded a google group to try to save the place. We spent the next five months in a swirl of emails, skype calls, chat sessions and face to face meetings with legends from the past. And...

... and dang it all! We did!

PS. I really am female, and I really am called Ben. As are a surprisingly large number of labrador retrievers. Black ones, mainly.
