In spite of being named after a Barbara Strisand song,I am not a big fan. I suppose I'm here because I am a Douglas Adams fan. As a writer myself, I admire his writing style and his huge imagination. The style can be copied, the imagination is gone, woe!
Ok, now you know two things about me. Actually three, but I don't count the Barbara Strisand bit. Other things - I live in Yorkshire but am not a native - I wear glasses to read but can tell the number on a bus before most people in my family can see the bus - I cannot wake up without drinking ridiculously strong coffee and my cat is dead.
I am here to read, listen and talk about writing. Not just SF, although I enjoy it it all from Asimov to Banks - actually that doesn't get me far, has Zaphod written anything lately?
Yeah, writing, as an art form, like painting or playing the fiddle or building snowmen. Oh yes it is!
