Tourists and Cheese

I live in, or at least inhabit, a small village in Somerset, England, Earth, called Cheddar. Cheddar is famous for two things - Its cheese, and its gorge. Neither of which I have to say hold a perticular fascination for me, not being a rodent/hawk crossbreed (If I was, I'd probably eat myself). Not much happens here most of the year, but in the summer months the place blooms with activity - the tourist trade bringing in as much money as possible to wring out of sightseers.
Cheddar has, during certain times, more tourists in it than residents, and because of this constant source of income the tourists are given priority in almost all matters concerrning the village. Such as the proposal to put a cable car ride up the gorge, a national trust site, so the tourists can ogle the rock formations. On cloudy summer nights a light show is projected onto the clouds from a building halfway along the gorge. The lower half of the gorge is filled with shops, hotels, pubs, attractions, rides, and many more things to cater for a thousand times a thousand worlds (well, almost).

Of course, the locals don't get a look in. Especially the youth population, which consists of people like me, a minority, and people who like throwing bricks at houses and snapping car arials, also, I wouild guess, a minority but one that makes its presence felt. This gives the youth of Cheddar a bad name, so much so that the local youth club was closed after some youths trashed the place. A sad story.
It would seem, from this, that the village of Cheddar has been almost ruined by the tourist trade. No doubt other places have been hit in the same way.
